Gonadorelin Research: Trials, Dosing Science & What the Studies Show
Gonadorelin is a synthetic form of natural mammalian gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). It is studied for its ability to stimulate the pituitary to release luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), with the literature concentrated in human fertility, hypothalamic-pituitary diagnostic testing and veterinary reproductive protocols.
Mechanism of action
Gonadorelin is structurally identical to endogenous GnRH, binding pituitary GnRH receptors to trigger release of LH and FSH — the two gonadotropins that in turn drive testicular and ovarian function.
Its half-life is extremely short: 2 to 10 minutes. Any protocol therefore depends far more on delivery pattern than on total dose.
Tachyphylaxis is the defining constraint. Continuous exposure, or a large single dose, downregulates pituitary receptors and shuts the axis down. To mimic natural physiology and sustain LH/FSH output, gonadorelin must be delivered in pulsatile intervals of roughly 60 to 90 minutes via a specialised pump.
This pulsatile-versus-continuous distinction is the reason long-acting GnRH analogues (triptorelin, leuprolide) produce the opposite effect — deliberate suppression — while pulsed gonadorelin produces stimulation.

The evidence base spans human fertility meta-analyses, endocrine diagnostic work and controlled veterinary formulation trials. Note that the strongest human fertility results come from pump-delivered pulsatile protocols, not fixed-interval injections.

Storage & handling
Gonadorelin acetate is supplied as a lyophilised powder. Keep sealed vials refrigerated or frozen, protected from light and moisture.
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water directed slowly down the inner wall of the vial and swirl gently until clear. Do not shake.
Store reconstituted solution at 2-8 °C and use within the stability window set by your lab's standard operating procedures. The extremely short in-vivo half-life makes handling consistency especially important for reproducible results.
